3D PRINT

3D PRINTING

You can benefit from the rapid availability of laser-melted metal components. Whether complex geometries, lightweight construction, prototype parts, series components or functional integration - Laser melting with our specially developed material compositions opens up new possibilities for you.

FUNCTIONALITY

Laser-based powder bed fusion of metals PBF-LB/M (ISO/ASTM 52900) belongs to the additive manufacturing processes and is colloquially known as "metal 3D printing". Powder bed 3D printing is also known as selective laser melting. Basically, this is a three-dimensional welding process in which the metal (mixture), which is present in powder form, is applied layer by layer via laser radiation. Argon, helium, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen or their mixtures can be selected as process gases, and in most cases argon 4.6 is used.

YOUR BENEFITS

  • Feasibility of complex, filigree or conventionally unmanufacturable geometries:
Extraordinary structures can be excellently produced by the layer-by-layer structure of laser melting technology and used for technical or design applications

  • Printing of your components with the Metal-Matrix-Composites (MMC) specially developed in our laboratory:
This leads to higher wear protection and new properties of your components

  • Very good suitability for components with low wall thickness

  • Integration of channels for cooling or transport of different media within the component:
This ensures that the medium reaches the desired location via the optimal route

  • Simultaneous production of different component variants:
Produce several variants of your components in one print job or ask us about a production quantity with optimized unit costs

  • Fast response time and production of your components:
Production can start a few hours after receipt of order

  • Complete manufacturing process from a single source:
Depending on your needs, we offer you the printing of the components, the subsequent heat treatment, the mechanical reworking and the coating

  • No shaping tools necessary, such as with classic sintering with "hips":
From the data set directly to the finished component

  • Reduction of development times through rapid availability of the laser-melted components

POST-PROCESSING BY US

We microblast finished components for a uniform appearance and for their cleaning with suitable blasting abrasives. The process-typical, somewhat rough surface finish of the laser-melted components is improved at the same time.

3-5 axis milling machines, HSC milling, grinding and wire EDM are used for rework. Kolibri is also your partner for drillings, fits or threads that are to be made in the component. In close coordination with you, we deliver a component that is precisely tailored to your application and requirements.

QUALITY CONTROL

Hardness measurement

After heat treatment, all components are tested for hardness using suitable measuring devices.

Micrograph examination

A test cube is printed as standard with every print job. We examine this for porosity in our laboratory before delivering the components.

Optical or tactile measurement of the components

In order to guarantee the dimensional accuracy and usability of the components, we have the option of measuring them tactilely and optically. Upon request, we will also be happy to provide you with a measurement report.
